Sharon Johnsey

You want an energetic, empathic and crystal-clear writing instructor. I want a workplace with a fun, invested team and students who are willing to try. My approach: listen first. I want to hear students’ thinking and the way they phrase their ideas. I reinforce their growing concepts and highlight the power of their own ideas. How can students become powerful communicators by passively listening to lectures? My approach: engage. My theatre background brings interest, drama, comedy, and risk-taking. It also works by collaboration and respect. My approach: curiosity. I can’t wait to learn your writing method and see how it unfolds with students. I am a life-long learner. I am teachable. So, if you are a smart reader, you are skeptical at this point. A perusal of my resume would have you ask, “Why would a teacher with 16 years teaching high school be looking for work?” The answer: covid plus drama. This impossible combination exhausted me and I found myself going deeper and deeper into my passion of helping students learn to write. That’s what I want to do.
